Drei Niederlagen in Folge und ein nicht passender neuer Vertrag - Ex-Champion Nieky Holzken verlässt Glory und zeigt sich enttäuscht.
Er war der Champion im Weltergewicht und eigentlich das Maß aller Dinge, sowie seit Glory 2 mit an Bord. Bis ein gewisser Cedric Doumbè kam und Nieky Holzken den Titel entriss. Eine weitere Niederlage gegen Doumbè und dann noch eine gegen Alim Nabiev und schon sah die Welt des Holländers ganz anders aus. Gerade im Hinblick auf Glory 59 in der AmsterdamArena am 29. September hätte man eigentlich fest davon ausgehen können, dass der 34-jährige spätestens hier wieder aktiv in den Ring zurückkehren würde. Dieser Vermutung muss zum jetzigen Stand jedoch eine Absage erteilt werden, denn Holzken hatte über Instagram seine Fans darüber informiert, dass er Glory verlassen hat. niekyholzken "It didn't work out with glory im sorry fans. They offered me a contract and i didn't feel good about it.so i said no to it. i supposed to fight in #glory59 in the new contract.
In my old contact they gived me 3 fights plus 1 optional.i fought 2 fights,an canceled 1 because of an injury,and now they say they count the canceled fight as one i fought.that that was in the contract and i didn't see that.and then they say (glory) we can have a new contract and then they offer less money i wont accept.even that i lost some fights on points.im still very popular in kickboxing and sell many many tickets and they now.and thats wy i think they wanted me to go fight in the arena.@glorykickboxing i was 4 years worldchampion who helped them to grow world wide.i was there from glory 1 till now. Even when i beat valtellini for the first world title,i get injured and after 3 months they took away my title,and you have to defend a title in one year not 3 months. But i didn't complain and keep training and after 6 months training i could fight again and i say i wanted to fight for my title again.then they say i have to fight a contender tournament again to make chance to fight for the title again witch was mine.so again i didn't complain and i fight in virginia the tournament and unfortunately for glory i won again ???? with a big ko against raymond daniels and after that fight i beat daniels again for the title. Im sorry fans but i wont quit.maby if i get a good offer from some other organizations i fight there in the future and if not i will stick to boxing

Interessant ist dabei auch der Zeitpunkt, an dem Holzken dieses Statement veröffentlicht hat. Denn Glory hat erst vor Kurzem bekanntgegeben, dass man von Ziggo Sport zum niederländischen TV-Sender Veronica gewechselt ist. Ob Holzken nun darauf spekuliert, dass man aufgrund seines Bekanntheitsgrades doch einen neuen, für ihn zufriedenstellenderen Vertrag anbietet, steht noch in den Sternen. Es ist ja nicht das erste Mal, dass Holzken sich nicht zufrieden mit den Konditionen zeigt, die Glory ihm anbietet.
Der Weggang von Glory lässt natürlich einige Spekulationen über mögliche Kämpfe von Holzken in der Zukunft offen. So in etwa könnte es zu dem seit längerer Zeit geplanten Rückkampf gegen Arthur Kyshenko kommen, vielleicht ja sogar in China? Promotions wie Kunlun, One Championship oder K-1 Japan wären gar töricht nicht alles zu versuchen, um diesen Kampf auf die Beine stellen zu können. Selbst für Bellator Kickboxen wäre dieser Kampf eine großartige Option, um neben MMA- auch die Fans des Standkampfes mehr für sich zu gewinnen.
